Bruce Tate graduated from MMBE in February this year. Here he tells how the course helped him invigorate his career in the music industry.
“I previously spent ten years as a musician, touring the UK and USA multiple times and gained some great experiences. I decided to take the MMBE course as I wanted to remain in the music industry, but was failing to make it financially viable and was close to changing careers.
Now, instead of just playing guitar, I promote bands, run my own live music night, manage a solo artist and teach underprivileged teenagers to DJ. Not only is it fun and varied, it is financially sustainable and I feel much more positive about what I can achieve in the music business world.
Inspired by the MMBE course, I set up NEED Music Ltd, which represents everything I do. My first endeavour was at South by Southwest in Texas earlier this year. I embarked on a promotional campaign to assist musicians in my region, and it was great increasing the awareness of the acts to international industry delegates through my self-designed dedicated brochure. I significantly increased my database of music business contacts too.
The course was a real eye-opener for me, and truly inspirational – I haven’t looked back since.”
